The Apple Festival in Waynesville, NC

Morning air becomes crisp and fresh as summer slides into autumn. Silently the mountains begin to bedazzle their bright fall colors signaling the ripening of the season’s apple crop. And, now that the harvest is complete, it’s a time to celebrate!

The annual Apple Harvest Festival returns to historic downtown Waynesville October 16, 2010. Enjoy true Appalachian hospitality as this friendly mountain community opens its arms to embrace the harvest tradition and share the excitement with its neighbors. Main Street is dedicated solely to local food vendors and crafters demonstrating and selling their handmade crafts which is a special highlight of this event.

Traditionally held on the lawn and in front of the county courthouse, the festival has expanded from the Courthouse on downtown’s Main Street to Church Street. Haywood County Apple Growers, food vendors, artists and crafters gather for a glorious day of color to celebrate the fall harvest. There is entertainment all day long that includes local mountain music and dance.
